Hyderabad: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on Wednesday at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad. On this special occasion, Dr. Sunil S. Hiremath, the director (FAC) of zoo parks and curator of Nehru Zoological Park, paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his photograph and offering floral tributes.
All the staff members of the zoo participated in the event, which was held at the administrative building of Nehru Zoological Park.
As part of the celebrations, a free two-day medical health checkup camp was organized for the zoo staff. A medical team from Care Hospital, Banjara Hills branch, conducted various tests, including ECG, blood pressure, and sugar level checks. Over 150 zoo staff members took part in the camp and received checkups from general physicians, cardiologists, and dental and eye specialists.
In addition to the health camp, Dr. Sunil also inaugurated the 70th Wildlife Week celebrations. As part of the festivities, drawing and painting competitions were held for students from both government and private schools. Around 350 students participated in these competitions.
Several key officials, including M. Barnoba, deputy curator; Vishnuvardhan, Amrutha, and M. Laxman, assistant curators; Venkat Rao, FSO; H.M. Hanifulla, PRO; M. Laxminarayana, biologist; and M. Deepak Tarun, EO, were present at the event.
