Youth in Hyderabad protest demanding Group-II and Group-III exam postponement

Protests in Hyderabad continued on Monday as job aspirants and students demanded the postponement of DSC exams and a new timetable for Group-II and Group-III exams in Telangana. Police detained unemployed youth and students who tried to march to the Secretariat to voice their demands, including an increase in Group-II posts. Various groups called for a siege of the Secretariat to push for their requests, leading to the arrest of All India Students Federation (AISF) leaders and workers as they marched towards the Secretariat on Monday. The AISF also demanded the release of fee reimbursement arrears and scholarships, prompting the detention of Osmania University Student Joint Action Committee leader Rajarao Yadav and others.

To maintain order, a significant number of police officers were deployed around the Secretariat. Tight security measures were also put in place in Ashok Nagar and Dilsukhnagar areas, where protests occurred on Saturday and Sunday nights.

The DSC exams, which are for recruiting teachers in government schools, are scheduled from July 18 to August 5, while the Group-II exam is set for August 7 and 8. Aspirants are calling for the exams to be postponed due to insufficient time for preparation between them. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka urged job aspirants and students on Sunday to end their protest and allow the DSC exams for 11,000 teacher positions to proceed. He assured that another DSC exam would be conducted soon to fill an additional 5,000 to 6,000 posts.
