Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently met with World Bank president Ajay Banga in the United States. They discussed plans for several development projects in the state of Telangana.
The World Bank has agreed to help the state government with various projects. These include the Musi river rejuvenation project, a Skill University, Future City, Citizen Healthcare, and the development of Hyderabad 4.0.
The meeting between the Chief Minister and the World Bank president lasted over an hour. They decided to create a team to plan and start these projects quickly. The main topics of discussion were people, the planet, sustainability, health, skills, and jobs.
The partnership will focus on skill development, urban rejuvenation, and creating Net Zero developments. They will also work on improving citizens’ healthcare, diagnostics, and electronic records.
The World Bank praised the Chief Minister for his balanced vision and optimism. Ajay Banga showed interest in supporting the creation of a Net Zero City. The World Bank has had success with similar projects in the region before.
This is the first time Telangana has been chosen to work with Bretton Woods institutions. The Telangana team gave an overview of other developments that affect citizens’ lives, the environment, and sustainability in the state.
Several officials were present at the meeting. These included IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Telangana Chief Secretary A Shanta Kumari, Jayesh Ranjan, Ramakrishna Rao, V Sheshadri, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, and Ajith Reddy.
World Bank executive director Parameswaran (‘Param’) Iyer praised the Telangana government for its balanced and sustainable vision. He noted that the state always puts its people first.
