Neeraj Chopra, India’s Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower, has become the first Indian to top the rankings in the javelin throw category of the World Athletics Rankings. He has overtaken Grenada’s Anderson Peters and currently has 1422 points, which is 22 more than Peters. Last year, Peters defeated Chopra to win gold in the World Championships.
Chopra started 2023 with a win at the Diamond League, throwing 88.67 meters. He is now preparing for the Fanny Blankers-Koen Game in the Netherlands and will then move on to the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland. The current top five rankings for javelin throw are: Neeraj Chopra (India) – 1455 points, Anderson Peters (Grenada) – 1433 points, Jakub Vadlejch (Czech Republic) – 1416 points, Julian Weber (Germany) – 1385 points, and Arshad Nadeem (Pakistan) – 1306 points.
