Today, an awareness conference was held at the Government Degree Women’s College in Wanaparthy District. The event was organized by the district’s She Teams, which focus on the safety and well-being of women. The conference was attended by several notable figures, including Wanaparthy District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ravula Giridhar IPS, Principal Eswariah, and Vice Principal Ramaraju Yadav, who served as the chief guests.

During the event, SP Ravula Giridhar spoke to the women in attendance, emphasizing the importance of awareness about various issues such as sexual harassment, sexual assaults, anti-ragging, suicides, cybercrimes, and human trafficking. He highlighted the newly introduced laws aimed at protecting women, and explained the role of She Teams in ensuring the safety of women and students in the district. He encouraged women to report any inappropriate behavior, whether from strangers or known individuals, to the police. In emergencies, women are advised to dial 100 or contact the She Teams at 6303923211, with the assurance that their identities will be kept confidential.

The SP also addressed the importance of safety while traveling alone in autos and buses, urging women to contact the She Teams or dial 100 if they ever feel unsafe. Additionally, he discussed how to handle cyber-harassment, advising the audience to immediately report such incidents to Cybercrime, dial 1930 or 100, or visit the nearest police station. He also encouraged the use of popular social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, as well as QR codes, to reach out to She Teams and take advantage of their services.

During the conference, the students also participated in the release of posters related to She Teams and the Bharosa Center, which supports victims of violence and abuse.

Approximately 200 students from the college took part in the program, along with various other attendees including Town SIs Jayanna and Ramaraju, She Team staff, Vice Principal Ramaraju Yadav, Manjula and Roopa from NSS UNIT – I & II, Bharosa Center representatives, Cyber Constable Ravindra Babu, and other police personnel. Together, they contributed to the success of the awareness session.
