Hyderabad: The police stopped Mahila Congress leaders from marching to the BJP State office in Nampally. The leaders were demonstrating at Gandhi Bhavan, demanding the immediate implementation of 33 percent women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
State president of Mahila Congress, M Sunitha Rao, along with several women, gathered at the Pradesh Congress office, Gandhi Bhavan, in the afternoon. They planned to march to the BJP office.
However, the police had placed barricades at the gates and blocked them from leaving the premises. The Mahila Congress workers raised slogans and held placards demanding women’s reservation.
They reminded everyone about the promise made by the ruling BJP at the Centre and accused it of failing to implement it across the country. The workers continued their demonstration despite the police trying to calm them down.
