The event was organized by the district’s Women, Children, Disabled, and Senior Citizens Welfare Department and coincided with National Girl Child Day. It was inaugurated by MLA Reddy, Mayor Sudha Rani, District Collector Pravinya, and Welfare Officer Jayanti.

During his address, MLA Reddy appreciated the programme for encouraging the creativity of girls. He pointed out that Warangal, once ruled by the legendary Rani Rudrama Devi, now has numerous women holding key positions as officials and public representatives. He noted that the district has the highest number of women IAS officers and emphasized that women are excelling in various fields, proving they are not inferior to men.

Reddy also spoke about the special bond between fathers and daughters. He stressed the importance of such programmes in fighting gender discrimination. He urged parents to support their daughters in education and employment opportunities. He also expressed delight at the large-scale celebration of the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao initiative and praised the girls for showcasing the importance of joint family systems through their performances.

Mayor Sudha Rani encouraged parents to teach their children to respect girls and ensure their safety. She acknowledged that in today’s world, girls and women are advancing alongside men in all fields. The Mayor also praised the government’s efforts for women’s welfare and empowerment.

District Collector Pravinya shared insights into the history of the National Girl Child Day initiative, noting that it was first launched in Rajasthan. She explained that the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme was started to address the declining girl child ratio in the country. She highlighted the district administration’s measures to regulate gender determination tests and promote gender equality.

The Collector also pointed out that girls are achieving remarkable success at the national level in education and other fields. Through discipline and hard work, they are securing top ranks and advancing in careers such as engineering, administration, and even space exploration. She urged parents, teachers, and the wider community to provide the necessary support and infrastructure to help girls succeed. With determination, she said, girls can become IAS/IPS officers, engineers, and even astronauts.

The celebrations highlighted the progress and potential of girls, with leaders collectively calling for continued efforts to empower and uplift them.
