Hyderabad: Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, responded to a challenge made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy regarding the Musi Riverfront Development Project (MRDP). Revanth Reddy had asked those opposing the project to spend a day in the areas near the Musi River.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Kishan Reddy said, “CM Revanth, we accept your challenge. Tomorrow, we will go and sleep there. If needed, we are ready to stay in that area for three months. We will eat with the people in their homes and sleep in the houses of the poor.”
The Telangana BJP chief also criticized former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, saying that KCR had once promised to make Musi’s water as clean as coconut water but failed to deliver. He accused Revanth Reddy of making similar promises without action. “Revanth has done nothing except demolish poor people’s houses and provoke farmers in Nalgonda under the guise of the Musi rejuvenation project,” he added.
Kishan Reddy further claimed that the Congress party is misleading people in Maharashtra with false promises. He said that Congress is spreading misinformation that six promises have been fulfilled in Telangana and that the state is prosperous with good governance. However, he argued that these claims are untrue.
He also criticized Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi for making promises during political tours, such as the Bharat Jodo Yatra, but failing to act once in power. “Rahul Gandhi praises Congress-ruled states like Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh during election campaigns, but the reality is that people in these states are facing many difficulties,” said Kishan Reddy.
