The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has installed water kiosks (Chalivendras) near Basavatarakam and Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar to provide water to pedestrians and travelers in the city.
Sudarshan Reddy, the managing director of HMWSSB, explained that the initiative was taken to help people stay hydrated in the increasing heat. The department plans to set up more water kiosks in hospitals, bus stands, and crowded areas.
Authorities have been asked to find suitable locations for additional water kiosks in different parts of the city. The plan is to gradually expand the setup to other areas in phases. If the response to the Chalivendras is positive, the Water Board is willing to keep them operational throughout the year.
