Hyderabad: Illegal Sale of Expired Milk Powder Busted

The Central Zone Task Force team, in collaboration with Musheerabad police, conducted a raid on a godown in the Musheerabad area. During the operation, they apprehended a man named Chittaboina Damodar Yadav. He was found illegally transporting, storing, and selling adulterated and expired Nandini milk powder that was labeled “not for sale.”

Officials revealed that the accused was distributing the milk powder under the Public Distribution Scheme to school children as part of the Ksheera Bhagya Scheme, introduced by the Karnataka State government. Shockingly, the product, which was unfit for consumption, was being sold to needy customers at higher prices. Despite being arrested earlier by Food Safety Officers for similar offenses, Damodar continued his illegal activities. Authorities seized approximately 330 kg of milk powder bags, including 18 packets containing 25 kg each.

Further investigation uncovered that Damodar was purchasing expired milk powder from a person named Ravi, who hails from Karnataka. He bought the powder at Rs 180 per kg and sold it at Rs 240 per kg, making a profit while endangering public health. Police officials are continuing their inquiry into the case.
