The tri-cities of Warangal-Hanumakonda-Kazipet are facing flooding despite efforts to prevent it. Many colonies in these cities are covered in water due to continuous rain for the past week. NTR Nagar Colony had to relocate 120 families to a rehabilitation center. Other affected areas include Sai Ganesh Colony, Madhura Nagar Colony, railway under-bridge, Sai Nagar Colony, Brindavan Colony, SR Nagar, Kashibugga, Enumamula Market, and CKM college in Warangal. Ashoka Colony near Ambedkar Bhavan in Hanumakonda is also facing problems due to floodwaters.
The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working together to clear blockages in drains and nalas. The District Collector, Mayor, and municipal commissioner are monitoring the situation and have inspected various areas. Both Bhadrakali and Waddepally lakes are overflowing.
In the past 24 hours, Kapulakanparthy village in Warangal district recorded the third-highest rainfall in the State with 29.43 cm. Kunoor in Jangaon district received 24.25 cm rainfall. The overflowing streams in Panthini village have affected traffic on National Highway 563 (Warangal-Khammam). The road between Lingala Ghanpur and Narsampet is also affected due to overflowing of Gujirala Vagu stream.
Bogatha, Mutyala Dhara, and Kongala waterfalls in Mulugu district are experiencing heavy inflows. Pakala, Ramappa, and Laknavaram Lakes are also receiving heavy inflows. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is receiving a large amount of water, and the gates of the Lakshmi Barrage at Medigadda have been opened. The Godavari and Pranahita rivers have recorded an inflow of 5.79 lakh cusecs, and the Sammakka Barrage has lifted 59 gates, releasing 7.87 cusecs of water.
