The Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, visited the areas of Gujarat affected by Cyclone Biparjoy on Saturday. He took an aerial survey of the Kutch district and met with people who were injured at a hospital in Mandvi town. He also interacted with farmers and personnel from the National Disaster Response Force and the Border Security Force.

Shah was joined by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendera Patel, during his visit. They went to the Mandvi sub-district hospital to meet with people who were injured and pregnant women who had been moved from coastal villages hit by the cyclone. The cyclone made landfall near Jakhau port.

Shah also went to a farm near Mandvi to see the damage caused to crops and talked to farmers about their situation. He visited the Mandvi airport and met with personnel who were involved in relief and rescue operations.

The Home Minister discussed the situation after the cyclone with officials in Bhuj. Strong winds caused by the cyclone knocked down electricity poles, causing several towns and hundreds of villages to lose power. The government released a statement saying that 109,000 people had been moved to temporary shelters, including 10,918 children, 5,070 senior citizens, and 1,152 pregnant women.
