Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held talks today to strengthen ties in renewable energy, commerce, and military. They also discussed the damage to Hindu temples in Australia, which PM Modi raised as a concern. He said that his counterpart had committed to taking “strict action” against those responsible for vandalizing the temples.
The issue of attacks on temples and separatist activities has been discussed in the past between the two leaders. PM Albanese promised that anyone engaging in such mischief would face harsh punishment. There have been several incidents in which Hindu temples were vandalized in Australia.
PM Modi assured that they will not tolerate anything or anyone who undermines the cordial and warm ties between Australia and India. PM Albanese reaffirmed his commitment to taking strict measures against those responsible.
The talks followed a ceremonial guard of honour received by PM Modi at Sydney’s Admiralty House. The day before, he addressed the Indian community in Sydney at a rally attended by Albanese.
