Uttam Urges Immediate Repairs of Damaged Irrigation Projects

Hyderabad: The recent heavy rains have caused an agricultural crisis in the State. To address this, the State government has quickly launched a plan to repair all damaged water projects. This includes lakes, small rivers, and ponds. Fixing these water bodies is important to help farmers continue their farming activities during the kharif season.

State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has instructed officials to begin the repair work immediately. He held a high-level meeting with irrigation officials and also spoke to district officials through a video conference. The Minister reviewed the condition of the water projects in the areas that were hit hardest by the heavy rains. He has asked the officials to speed up the approval process and issue tenders for the repair work. The goal is to finalize these tenders within a week. Uttam also requested a complete report on the flood damage and assured that the government is ready to provide enough funds for the repairs.

The Minister warned that strict action would be taken against any officials who do not perform their duties during this crisis. He also asked the officials to stay alert, as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy rains in the coming days.

Uttam emphasized the importance of monitoring the safety of the structures at the projects and reservoirs. He instructed the authorities to immediately inform higher officials if they notice any damage or threats to these structures. He also stressed that the water from overflowing catchment areas and canals should be stored in reservoirs for future needs.
