During a review meeting held on Wednesday, the Minister discussed progress on various irrigation projects and lift irrigation schemes in the erstwhile Medak district. He instructed officials to finalize proposals for desilting the Singur reservoir, which would increase its water storage capacity.

The Minister also directed officials to begin the tendering process for canal lining under the Singur reservoir system. He emphasized the need to expedite pending works on the Basaveshwara and Sangameshwara lift irrigation schemes. In addition, he reviewed the Peddareddypalli lift irrigation project, which is estimated to cost Rs 660 crore, and proposed that its foundation stone be laid by December.

Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the resumption of Package 19A works, which had previously been stalled. The project is expected to cost Rs 600 crore. He also urged officials to fast-track work on Packages 17, 18, and 19 to ensure their timely completion.

In a separate development, the Minister approved repairs for 38 minor irrigation tanks and the Nallavagu Medium Project canal in Narayankhed. He also gave the go-ahead for the Karamungi lift irrigation scheme, which will benefit the same region.

Reaffirming the government’s focus on improving water resources and infrastructure, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the critical role these projects will play in meeting the long-term irrigation and drinking water requirements of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
