Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and MLC K Kavitha on Monday expressed her concerns over the alleged transformation of Telangana Thalli into “Congress Thalli.” Kavitha accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of disrespecting the state’s cultural symbol, saying that Telangana Thalli was shedding tears due to his actions.
Kavitha criticized the move, stating that Telangana Thalli, who had inspired millions of children during the Telangana movement, has now been replaced by Congress Thalli. She strongly condemned this change and declared that her party rejects the idea of Congress Thalli.
The BRS leader also took issue with the installation of a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the road and the placement of Telangana Thalli inside the Secretariat. She argued that it felt as though Congress was “imprisoning” the original Telangana Thalli. Kavitha further pointed out that ordinary citizens who wish to pay their respects to Telangana Thalli are not even allowed access to the Secretariat.
Another major concern raised by Kavitha was the removal of “Bathukamma” from Telangana Thalli. She highlighted that Bathukamma, a flower festival unique to Telangana, holds significant cultural importance. Kavitha lamented that this removal diminishes the inspiration drawn from Telangana’s rich traditions and heritage. “It is unfortunate that Bathukamma, which is celebrated with such pride, has been taken away from Telangana Thalli,” she said.
