Hyderabad: The R&B Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, announced on Sunday that the Uppal-Ghatkesar flyover will be completed in 18 months. Work on this long-awaited project will start in 10 days.
Reddy visited the site and assured that new tenders for the project will be invited. He mentioned that an additional Rs 200–300 crore might be needed because of increased costs. The six-kilometer-long flyover project initially began in 2018 with an estimated cost of Rs 600 crore.
The Minister blamed the BRS government for the delays, stating that the project’s holdup has caused hardships for commuters traveling between Hyderabad and Warangal. He reviewed the situation with officials, including those from the National Highways Authority of India.
Reddy highlighted that CM A Revanth Reddy had raised questions about the delay in Parliament at least 10 times while serving as an MP. Despite these efforts, the project has remained stagnant. The Minister also questioned officials on why the contract with the inefficient contractor, who delayed the project, had not been terminated.
