UoH to form committee to investigate building collapse

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has decided to form a committee to investigate the collapse of a temporary support structure at an under-construction building. The accident, which happened on Thursday, left 11 construction workers injured.

According to UoH officials, the committee will conduct a safety audit of the under-construction building. It will also check the quality and safety of all other buildings currently being built on the campus.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which is responsible for the construction, has been asked to submit a detailed report on the incident. The report should include corrective steps taken and preventive measures for all construction sites on the campus.

Additionally, CPWD has been instructed to ensure proper medical care for the injured workers. The contractor or agency handling the construction must cover the medical expenses and provide compensation to the injured workers.

The accident took place on Thursday night when a support structure of the portico collapsed. Two injured workers received first aid at the university health centre, while nine others were taken to a corporate hospital. After receiving treatment, all nine workers were discharged.
