Chandrapur village in Siddipet district received the Best Tourist Village Award from the Union Ministry in New Delhi. The sarpanch, Suragoni Chandrakala Ravi, and district additional collector, Srinivas Reddy, accepted the award from Union Minister Ajay Bhat. Health Minister T Harish Rao congratulated the sarpanch on this achievement.
With a population of 4,500, Chandrapur village was recognized as the best due to its achievements in various sectors. The village is known for its Gollabhama sari and traditional handloom forms.
The village is also home to the famous Ranganayaka Swamy temple, a popular rural tourist spot. It is surrounded by attractions such as the Komati Cheruvu, Wargal Saraswati temple, and Cheriyal Nakashi painting cluster. Chandrapur has a rich cultural heritage with attractive temples, mosques, and churches that draw traditional devotees. The Ranaganayaka shrine is renowned for its healing properties.
The Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir, part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project, has brought unique advantages to the village. The State government has invested Rs. 100 crore to develop the area as a tourism destination suitable for conferences and campaigns.
In his message, Health Minister T Harish Rao praised the people of Siddipet for their sacrifices in offering lands for the reservoir. He congratulated the sarpanch for receiving the award on behalf of the community.
