Union Minister urges CM to clarify electoral promises in upcoming Budget

Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy has demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy explain how his government plans to implement the six guarantees and 420 promises made in the Congress party’s election manifesto.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Kishan Reddy strongly criticized the Congress party and the Chief Minister. He said the people of Telangana have the right to know how the government will fulfil these promises. He urged the Chief Minister to provide clarity in the upcoming budget and present a detailed action plan.

Kishan Reddy raised several key issues, including the filling of 2,00,000 government jobs by December 2024, the agricultural loan waiver, the Rythu Bharosa scheme, financial aid for agricultural labourers, Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women, sub-plans for SC, ST, and BC communities, the Vidya Guarantee Card, and the establishment of international schools in every mandal. He insisted that all these issues should be addressed in the budget presentation.

He also accused the Chief Minister of misleading people during a recent meeting in Delhi. Kishan Reddy claimed that Revanth Reddy only acknowledged the state’s Rs 7 lakh crore debt burden 14 months after taking office, despite earlier blaming the previous BRS government for financial mismanagement.

Kishan Reddy also reminded the public that Congress MP Sonia Gandhi had sent signed letters to voters, promising that the guarantees would be implemented. He said the BJP has repeatedly asked the government for details on its action plan, but the Congress government has failed to deliver. He questioned what real improvements the Congress party has brought to Telangana.

He criticized the Congress government for not having a proper strategy to implement its promises. He pointed out that in just 15 months, the Congress government has borrowed Rs 1.52 lakh crore and is following the same corrupt practices as the previous KCR-led BRS government, which had also placed a heavy debt burden on the state.

Kishan Reddy accused the Congress government of corruption in several areas, including the sand and liquor businesses, illegal land dealings, excessive borrowing, and an overall dismissive attitude. He also responded to those questioning the BJP’s presence in southern India, stating that his party is the leading force in Karnataka and is growing stronger in Telangana, with control in Puducherry as well.

He pointed to recent parliamentary and MLC elections as proof of the BJP’s rising influence. He said, “The current government still has more than three and a half years left. We will see who becomes the next Chief Minister; the people of Telangana will hold those who failed them accountable.”

Lastly, he criticized a government circular banning protests in Osmania University. He compared it to a similar ban imposed by the previous BRS government, implying that the Congress administration is following the same restrictive policies.
