The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) recently held a meeting to discuss the introduction of cyber security courses at the undergraduate level. They also released a report from the Indian School of Business (ISB) on assessing assessments in higher education. TSCHE officials explained that due to the increasing number of cybercrimes and the potential danger they pose to individuals and organizations, they are taking steps to create a four-credit cyber security course for undergraduates.
To develop this course, a committee consisting of experts from fields such as law, computer science engineering, and the police department was formed. The goal is to address the stress and anxiety that students face during exams, both before and after the exams. The council recognizes the need for reforms in the assessment system to ensure its credibility and effectiveness.
The ISB conducted a study on the current evaluation system and made recommendations for improvement. They submitted a report titled “Assessing Assessments in Higher Education” to the council. Vakati Karuna, secretary of the Education department, expressed the department’s belief that launching a cyber security course and implementing the recommendations from the ISB report will contribute to enhancing values and ethics in education.
