Illegal Constructions Rampant in Pebbair Without Proper Approvals

Illegal constructions are being carried out openly in Pebbair town without proper layout permissions, despite regulations. The Town Planning officials, tasked with monitoring these issues, seem to be ignoring the violations. Unauthorized buildings are being erected without approvals from the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), allegedly with the backing of officials and local leaders. These illegal activities are causing significant losses to government revenue.

Road Width Regulations Ignored

On NH-44, within the Pebbair municipality, regulations mandate a road width of 150 feet. However, the actual width has been reduced drastically, with some shop dividers measuring less than 50 feet. As per the rules, there should be 100 feet of space left on either side of the road for commercial establishments, but these guidelines are being blatantly disregarded.

Unauthorized Real Estate Developments

In survey numbers 517 and 518, spanning about 1.24 acres, plots are reportedly being developed for real estate purposes while bypassing government regulations. Local residents have voiced concerns about these developments, citing significant revenue losses for the government. Addressing the issue, Pebbair Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Babu stated, “The road from Pebbair to Wanaparthy should be 80 feet wide, and from Kurnool to Kothakota should be 100 feet wide. Actions will be taken if these norms are violated.”

Hospitals Without Fire Safety Measures

Adding to the concerns, hospitals in the Pebbair municipality are reportedly operating without proper fire safety measures. Despite this, permissions are being granted, leaving citizens questioning the regulatory process. This lack of oversight has fueled criticism and ridicule from the local population.

Corruption and Lack of Accountability

Many residents allege that municipal Town Planning officers and commissioners are complicit in these violations. While ordinary citizens face numerous challenges in obtaining approvals for constructing their homes, unauthorized layouts and constructions seem to proceed unchecked. People are questioning why officials are ignoring these infractions and whether corruption is enabling the process.

Impact on Citizens and Government Revenue

In commercial zones, ventures with proper layout approvals are essential to ensure buyer security and safeguard government revenue. However, due to the greed of some officials, the government is losing significant revenue, and citizens are facing unnecessary hurdles in fulfilling their dreams of owning homes. Similar issues have been reported in other areas, including Kothakota. Complaints submitted to Town Planning authorities often result in no action being taken, leaving residents frustrated.
