Two youths were arrested in Hyderabad’s Old City after sexually misbehaving with a girl. The incident occurred on Saturday and came to light at the Bandlaguda police station. The police acted swiftly and apprehended both suspects within hours.
The victim, a 21-year-old woman from Suryapet, lives with her brother and mother. On Saturday, she had an argument with her brother and he slapped her. Upset by this, she left for Hyderabad by bus.
She arrived at the MGBS bus stand at 10:40 pm and went to a nearby tea shop before heading towards Afzalganj. At this point, two men named Mulakapenta Srikanth (22) and Panaganti Kashivishwanath (32) started following her on a motorcycle.
When they approached the victim and asked where she was going, she told them she was going to the police station. They offered to drop her off and took her on their bike. Along the way, they offered her ice cream and gained her trust.
Eventually, they took her to Srikanth’s scrap godown near Lakeview Hills and raped her. As they were taking her to another location on the bike, the victim screamed loudly, alerting the locals. The accused fled, leaving the young woman behind.
The police arrived at the scene promptly and gathered information from the victim. She identified the godown where the assault took place. The police immediately detained Srikanth, who owned the godown. Based on his information, they also arrested Kashi Vishwanath. Both suspects were found to have raped the victim.
The police registered a case based on the victim’s complaint and initiated an investigation into the incident.
