The management of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has welcomed the arrest of V Sunil, the manager of ‘Go Rural India’, for cheating the corporation out of Rs 21.73 crore in unpaid advertising fees. The TSRTC warned that companies that violate contracts and evade dues will face legal action.
According to the corporation management, ‘Go Rural India’ entered into an agreement with TSRTC in September 2015 to place advertisements in Metro Express and Metro Deluxe buses in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The agreement was supposed to last for six years until September 2021.
However, ‘Go Rural India’ failed to pay the license fee on time, resulting in dues of Rs 10.75 crore in Hyderabad region and Rs 10.98 crore in Secunderabad region. Despite issuing legal notices, the company only provided Rs 55 lakh in bounced cheques.
As a result, TSRTC officials filed separate complaints at Afzalganj and Marredpally police stations. The case was later transferred to Hyderabad Central Crime Station, leading to the arrest of V Sunil, the manager of ‘Go Rural India’.
TSRTC management has stated that they will take action against companies that intentionally evade license fees. They also emphasized that fraudsters who fail to pay their dues will face legal consequences.
