Hyderabad: The situation in Jainoor Mandal of K B Asifabad District is now under control after recent clashes between two communities. The unrest began following an alleged case of sexual assault and attempted murder of an Adivasi woman by a man from another community.
On Wednesday, Adivasi organizations, including Tudum Dibba, called for a bandh (a general strike). During the bandh, tensions escalated into violence between the two communities. Adivasis began attacking properties belonging to the other community, which led to retaliation. This resulted in incidents of arson, stone-pelting, and property damage.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) of KB Asifabad, along with his team, was the first to respond to the situation. Additional police forces were brought in from neighboring districts such as Adilabad, Mancherial, Sircilla, and Jagtial. More than 1,000 police personnel, including teams from the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) and Rapid Action Force (RAF), were deployed to restore order.
The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and Section 163 of the BNSS to prevent further violence. People have been warned not to violate these orders. As a precaution, internet services have been suspended in the area to prevent the spread of rumors and fake news. The Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, along with other senior officials, is closely monitoring the situation.
Special police teams have been formed to investigate the incidents of arson and violence. Authorities are working to identify the offenders and have promised strict action against those responsible. Flag marches and announcements about the prohibitory orders are being conducted in the affected areas to reassure the community. Police pickets have also been set up to maintain peace and instill confidence among the residents.
