Triangular Contest Expected in Lal Bahadur Nagar Constituency

The BRS candidate and MLA D Sudheer Reddy is focusing on development works in the Lal Bahadur Nagar (LB Nagar) constituency. This includes addressing issues like land pattas for residents and building flyovers. The Opposition parties have not yet decided on a candidate.

LB Nagar is part of the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha segment. It is one of the largest constituencies in the city with over 500,000 voters. The areas in LB Nagar include BN Reddy Nagar, Meerpet, Veerannagutta, Hayatnagar, and Sagar Ring Road. Many residents are from nearby Nalgonda district.

The constituency is expected to have a three-way contest between BRS, Congress, and BJP. While all corporators in the constituency are from the saffron party, the lack of strong leaders in the Opposition camp may work in Sudheer Reddy’s favor.

However, differences among party leaders could impact the election result. Ram Mohan Goud, who has been with the party for a long time, was left out after Reddy was announced as the candidate. Locals believe that if Goud contests as a rebel, it could affect the outcome.

In Congress, Malreddy Ram Reddy, brother of Malreddy Ranga Reddy, is vying for the ticket. However, the party has a policy of only giving one ticket per family. Ranga Reddy will be given a ticket from Ibrahimpatnam. Senior leader Madhu Yashki Goud is also seeking a ticket, but local leaders say he has no connection to the constituency.

From the BJP, Ranga Reddy district president Sama Ranga Reddy is trying for the ticket. Alongside him, Karmanghat Hanuman Temple Committee chairman Vanga Madhusudhan Reddy and senior leader Manohar Reddy are also aspiring for the ticket.

Traditionally, the Telugu Desam Party has had a strong voter base in the constituency, with locals estimating they would receive around 10,000 votes. It is unclear if there will be an alliance between BJP and TDP.

LB Nagar has witnessed significant development, including the construction of flyovers and other infrastructure. This has helped address the major traffic issue in the area.

Another advantage for Sudheer Reddy is the regularisation of houses in BN Reddy Nagar and Hasthinapuram under GO 118. Around 1,000 families have received land pattas after waiting for over two decades. However, the MLA may face criticism for frequent flooding in the areas during heavy rain.

A local resident named S Uday Kiran praised Sudheer Reddy for being accessible and actively solving grievances. The MLA regularly visits the constituency, engaging in activities like “Basti Nidra” and meeting with people.

In summary, the LB Nagar constituency is set to have a competitive election with BRS, Congress, and BJP vying for the seat. Sudheer Reddy is focusing on development works and addressing long-standing issues to gain support. The lack of strong Opposition leaders may work in his favor, but internal party differences could impact the result.
