Tourism boosts economy and creates jobs in Telangana: Revanth

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has stressed the importance of the Tourism Department in Telangana. He said that tourism should not only generate income but also create job opportunities for young people across the state. Telangana has many beautiful tourist spots, but the tourism sector has not developed as expected due to a lack of focus and innovative ideas in the past. He suggested that the department should be improved to ensure a better future.

During a review meeting on Friday, the Chief Minister announced incentives for those investing in tourism in semi-urban and rural areas. He proposed ideas such as introducing boat houses in the Nagarjuna Sagar backwaters, promoting Telangana as a destination for weddings, and focusing on temple tourism and tiger safaris. These steps, he said, would help make Telangana a top tourist destination. He instructed officials to work in this direction and take the necessary actions.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to improve facilities at major tourist spots, including Bhadrachalam, Saleswaram, Ramappa, Mallela Theertham, Bogatha waterfalls, Buddhist stupas, and Jain temples. He also emphasized the need for better promotion of these places. When he inquired about the Bhongiri Fort Ropeway project, officials informed him that land acquisition was completed and tenders would be called soon. They admitted that there had been some delays. The Chief Minister directed them to speed up the process and ensure the protection of historical structures on the fort.

While finalizing the state’s tourism policy, CM Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of coordination between various departments, including Forest, IT, Electricity, TG IIC, Medical, and Sports. He said that each department should work together without interfering in each other’s policies. He also emphasized the need to promote adventure sports and ensure that foreign visitors coming for medical treatment are treated as tourists without any difficulties. The Chief Minister assured that more funds would be allocated to the Tourism Department in the next financial year.
