Senior BRS leader and former minister P Mahender Reddy has been sworn in as a Minister in Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s cabinet. The oath of office was administered by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, cabinet ministers, and senior leaders were also present.
The appointment of Mahender Reddy comes after the resignation of the former Health minister E Rajendar due to political differences with KCR. There was one vacant ministerial berth in the 17-member state cabinet.
It is expected that Mahender Reddy will be given an important portfolio, possibly in the health sector. Currently, State Finance minister T Harish Rao was holding Medical and Health as an additional portfolio. The final decision regarding the portfolio allocation will be made by KCR to ensure smooth functioning of the state cabinet during the upcoming state assembly elections.
