Hyderabad is preparing for the distribution of the famous ‘Fish Prasadam’ to asthma patients on June 9. The Bathini Goud family has been providing their traditional medicine to asthma patients for 175 years. The Fish Prasadam is believed to alleviate breathing difficulties. Due to Covid-19, the administration of the Fish Prasadam was suspended for the past three years.
The Fish Prasadam will be distributed at the exhibition grounds from 9 am on Friday. Queue lines have been arranged to ensure patients receive the prasadam without any inconvenience. The Fisheries Department has made arrangements to supply over 1.30 lakh fishlings, and more than 250 volunteers will assist asthma patients in obtaining the prasadam.
Before the administration, a sacred pooja will be performed at the Bathini family’s residence in Doodhbowli, located in the historic Old City of Hyderabad. Herbal paste will be placed within the mouths of Murrel fish, which will then be inserted into the mouths of the patients.
Philanthropic organizations are providing food for out-of-state patients attending the event. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will operate special buses for transportation to the venue.
