The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) has expressed concern over the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to remove 15 percent reservation for increased seats in colleges. They believe this decision will negatively impact Telangana students. The TJUDA has urged the health minister, T Harish Rao, to take action to ensure a fair and transparent admission process for all students.
According to the TJUDA president, Dr Kaushik Kumar Pinjarala, the AP government has declared that Telangana students are not eligible for 15 percent unreserved category seats. These seats have been increased in AP after June 2, 2014, and in new colleges established thereafter.
Previously, the Telangana government had removed 15 percent reservations for AP students only in new colleges, excluding the new seats added in existing colleges after June 2014.
Dr Pinjarala believes this decision puts Telangana students at a significant disadvantage, limiting their access to higher education opportunities. The TJUDA is requesting the Health Minister’s office to investigate the matter and take necessary actions to ensure fair admissions for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh students. They emphasize the urgency of addressing this issue as counseling will begin soon.
