Three individuals arrested in Hyderabad for scamming people out of Rs 23 lakh

In Hyderabad, the Habeeb Nagar police arrested three people for cheating others out of Rs 23 lakh by collecting money for ‘animal sacrifice’ during Bakrid. The arrested individuals were Mohd Naseer (30), Mohd Zafar Ahmed (29), and Mohd Ashfaq (27). They created a fake app called Khidmath Foundation to deceive people into giving them money for Qurbani shares.

These individuals used the app to collect a large sum of money from the public, promising to deliver meat shares during Bakrid. They accepted payments through GPay, PhonePe, and cash at three different locations. However, on the day of the festival, they failed to deliver the Qurbani shares to most of the customers who had paid Rs 2,800 per share. Out of 2,179 shares requested by 1,049 customers, only 500 shares were delivered.

After a complaint from a resident of Aghapura who had paid Rs 28,000 for over 10 shares, the police filed a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.
