The Department of Commerce at Bhavan’s Vivekananda College, in partnership with ICSSR-SRC, Hyderabad, organized a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Methodology. The event took place from March 6 to March 8 and was coordinated by Dr. D. Sanjeeva Rao and Y. Vijayalakshmi.
The programme started with a warm welcome from L.V. Kamala Devi, the Convenor and Head of the Department of Commerce at BVC. This was followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony to mark the beginning of the event.
Several distinguished guests attended the programme, including CMA Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, Registrar of Osmania University; Prof. Indrakanti Sekhar, Principal of UCC & BM, Osmania University; and Prof. Sriharsha Reddy, Dean of IMT, Hyderabad. Dr. GSVRK Choudhary, Principal of BVC, addressed the gathering and emphasized the role of research in fostering innovation. He encouraged faculty members to use modern research methods and technology-driven approaches.
During the three-day event, participants took part in interactive sessions covering various aspects of research. They learned about structuring research papers, academic writing, selecting journals, and using digital resources. Experts also introduced them to AI tools, research management software like Zotero and Mendeley, citation styles, and plagiarism prevention. Additionally, they received guidance on ethical research practices, funding opportunities, and effective publishing strategies.
