Three Arrested for Cell Phone Snatching in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police has successfully arrested three individuals involved in a series of cell phone thefts. The operation was carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, along with the Market Police, as part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety in the city.

The arrested individuals include 18-year-old Omkar Yadav Tavre and 19-year-old R. Sanjay Goud, as well as a juvenile whose identity has not been revealed. They were linked to two criminal cases filed under Section 304 read with Section 3(5) BNS at the Market and Mahankali Police Stations, identified as case numbers Cr.No.230/2024 and Cr.No.207/2024.

The police acted on reliable information about the suspects’ involvement in the thefts. During the operation, the authorities seized several stolen items, including multiple Vivo cell phones and an Activa vehicle. The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be around ₹1,50,000.

Modus Operandi:

The police reported that the accused, who have been friends since childhood, resorted to stealing cell phones to fund their extravagant lifestyles. They primarily targeted people in the Market and Mahankali areas. Goud would drive the Activa, while Tavre snatched the phones. The juvenile helped them during the thefts.

Their plans to commit further crimes were thwarted thanks to the coordinated efforts of the North Zone Task Force and Market Police, who worked closely to apprehend the suspects.

In Charge of the Operation:

The operation was led by Inspector of Police K. Saidulu, with support from Sub-Inspectors P. Gnanadeep and Srinivasulu Dasu from the North Zone Task Force. Inspector P. Raghavender and WSI Mamatha from the Market Police Station also played key roles in the arrests.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Y.V.S. Sudheendra praised the community for its vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement. He emphasized the importance of citizens reporting suspicious activities to help keep the area safe.
