The Sale of Non-Substance Drugs in the Market: An Overview

The Indian government has recently announced full basic customs duty exemption on imported drugs used for the treatment of rare diseases. This move is expected to make these drugs more accessible and affordable to patients in need.

In a related development, the Hanumakonda district drug inspector, J Kiran Kumar, has identified two drugs that contained no active pharmaceutical ingredients in the local market of Kakaji Colony in Hanumakonda. The drugs in question are Pan-D capsules (Batch No. 22441755) and Pan 40 (Batch N. 22442076) tablets, which are used in the treatment of ulcer and acidity.

These drugs were manufactured by a reputed company in India and procured by local agencies through online orders from Bangalore-based Saveo Healthtech. The local pharma agencies received these stocks from Aminabad, Lucknow (UP). The government drug analysts confirmed that both the medicines contained ‘nil drug’. As a result, the drug officials have sent notices to the company and distributors.

The drug inspector has instructed druggists and chemists not to purchase drugs online without a valid invoice and to report any suspicious drugs to him. He also urged customers to check the batch numbers before purchasing Pan-D capsules or Pan 40 tablets.
