The 16th anniversary of Hyderabad Runners' Society is celebrated.

Hyderabad Runners, a running group in Hyderabad, celebrated its 16th anniversary with a symbolic 5K run on Sunday. The run started from Jalvihar to Lumbini Park and back, with 150 runners of all ages participating. As part of the celebration, the runners pledged to promote safe health and a safe environment as part of the Meri Life, Mera swachh shehar campaign awareness.

Abhijit Madnurkar, the president of Hyderabad Runners Society, spoke about the importance of doing any physical activity in the morning to stay healthy. The pandemic has changed the way people run and increased awareness for fitness. The Couch to 5K training program helps new runners get started, with over 5,000 newbies participating since its inception in 2015.

Hyderabad Runners also has other initiatives like Recreation and Child Health (REaCH) to promote physical activity in children and young adults. The Train & Shine training program helps runners achieve their goals and become better runners. The Couch to 5K program is available at various locations in Hyderabad and Secunderabad for anyone aged 10 and above. Training is for eight weeks, three days a week between 6 and 7 am, and the fee is nominal.

Hyderabad Runners is a not-for-profit NGO that promotes responsible running with safety and injury prevention as key focus areas. The group organizes programs like Marathon Training and Outdoor Kids training throughout the year. They also support social causes like blood donations and CPR training and partner with charity organizations for running events.
