Hyderabad: The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) is preparing to meet the increasing electricity demand expected during the upcoming summer season. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, Musharraf Faruqui, the chairman and managing director of TGSPDCL, has been inspecting the work being done as part of these preparations.
During his visits, the CMD inspected the 132 KV sub-station at Bowrampet and reviewed the ongoing tower construction work. These inspections are part of efforts to strengthen the infrastructure and ensure smooth electricity distribution during peak demand periods.
The electricity demand in Greater Hyderabad has grown significantly compared to last year’s dry season. This year, the peak demand has risen from 3,756 MW to 4,352 MW, marking a 16% increase. Similarly, power consumption has grown by 12%, reaching 90.68 million units compared to last year’s 81.39 million units.
Looking ahead to the summer of 2025, officials predict even greater growth in electricity demand. Following government directives, TGSPDCL is taking proactive measures to ensure there will be no disruptions in power supply, regardless of how much the demand increases. Management and field officials are working diligently to anticipate the rising demand and make necessary arrangements to handle it effectively.
