Telangana Minority Finance Corporation Launches Women Empowerment Initiatives

The Telangana Minority Finance Corporation (TGMFC) has announced new schemes to empower women in the state. The initiatives follow the release of Rs 30 crore by the State government and aim to benefit at least 15,000 women in the first phase. Applications for these schemes will be accepted starting December 13.

Under the new programs, financial aid will be provided to 5,000 women for setting up small businesses. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 50,000 as a subsidy. Additionally, over 10,000 women will receive sewing machines to encourage self-employment, at a total cost of Rs 6 crore.

According to TGMFC Chairman Obedulla Kothwal, the “Indiramma Mahila Shakti” scheme will provide domestic sewing machines to 10,490 eligible women through a transparent selection process. This initiative has been allocated Rs 6.04 crore. For the “Financial Assistance for Business Ventures” scheme under the “Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana,” 5,000 eligible women will receive Rs 50,000 each to start small businesses or work as street vendors.

Another key project, the “Special Livelihood Project,” focuses on rehabilitating families residing in the Musi riverbed areas of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal districts. Under this scheme, families from minority communities will receive subsidy loans of up to Rs 2 lakh. The financial support includes a Rs 1.4 lakh subsidy from the Corporation and a Rs 60,000 loan through the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) or STREENIDHI.

The Corporation has invited eligible candidates from minority communities to apply for these schemes. Online applications will be accepted from December 13 until the end of the year through the web portal https://tgobmms.cgg.gov.in/. Applicants must also submit a hard copy of their online application along with the required documents to the District Minority Welfare Office in their respective districts for further processing.

These efforts are part of the government’s push to support women’s empowerment and provide sustainable livelihoods for minority communities in Telangana.
