TGFDC Releases Fish into Ponds to Maintain Ecosystem Balance

Hyderabad: Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. G Chandrasekhar Reddy, released thousands of small fish into several ponds across various parks on Friday.

Around 7,000 baby fish were released in the Botanical Garden Boating Pond, 8,000 fish in the Night Safari Pond, 6,000 fish in the Pala Pitta Cycling Park Pond, and an additional 11,000 fish in a large pond and 6,000 in a small pond at Forest Trek Park.

Officials stated that the fish released are of four types: Gold Wire Fish, Catla Fish, Indian Salmon, and Grass Carp Fish.

Dr. Reddy also highlighted the importance of these ponds for supporting bird life in the parks. Various bird species, such as barbet, Asiatic koel, black drongo, Indian robin, and woodpeckers, have been living in the area. These birds reside in trees like red sandalwood, kadamba, bamboo, and others, which help recreate their natural habitat.

The combination of ponds and trees in these parks helps in maintaining a balanced environment for birds to thrive.
