Hyderabad: Government whip Aadi Srinivas said on Thursday that Telangana is slowly recovering from the damage caused during the 10 years of BRS rule. He also mentioned that the new government has started “Praja Palana” (people’s governance) in the state.

Speaking in the Assembly during the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Srinivas stated that the previous government had left Telangana in a financial crisis. He accused the BRS of turning the state into a “debt trap” and referred to it as a “Shaneeshwaram” (a place of misfortune). However, he highlighted that the new Congress government had launched the Maha Lakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel for women. According to him, this scheme has already saved Rs 5,005.95 crore for women in the state. He also claimed that the entire country is now looking at Telangana as a model.

Srinivas criticized the BRS leaders for rejecting the caste survey, calling it bogus. He pointed out that the Kalvakuntla family, which leads the BRS, had boycotted the survey and was now questioning its validity. He further alleged that thousands of acres of land were illegally occupied during the BRS regime. He also remarked that when the TRS (now BRS) removed “Telangana” from its party name, it lost its connection with the people of the state. He accused the previous government of functioning on corruption, referring to it as “commission Kakatiya” and “commission Kalvakuntla.” Srinivas warned that if the BRS targeted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Congress would respond by exposing the Kalvakuntla family.

Congress leader Vemula Veeresham also spoke in the Assembly, stating that the Governor should have addressed the corruption during the BRS rule in his speech. He suggested that this should be included in the Governor’s next address. He further accused BRS members of insulting the Governor during his speech and disrupting the proceedings. Veeresham also recalled that after the Sakalajanula Samme (a mass protest for Telangana statehood), then Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy resigned from his position in support of Telangana.
