In a recent GHMC council meeting in Hyderabad, corporators criticized officials for not addressing public concerns. They were particularly upset about allowing OYO rooms, hostels, and other commercial activities in residential areas without permission. The meeting focused on issues like tax collection, sanitation problems, and the presence of stray dogs in the city.

One corporator, Baba Fasiuddin, highlighted the problem of illegal commercial activities in residential zones, specifically in Jubilee Hills. He mentioned that these businesses do not pay commercial taxes and demanded that GHMC investigate and seal these properties. Another corporator, Kathineni Sarala from Ameerpet, raised concerns about hostels operating without following regulations, leading to overcrowding and potential safety issues.

The corporators also called for more accountability from officials, pointing out instances like the misuse of Saroornagar Indoor Stadium for private events instead of sports. They questioned the financial management of GHMC and whether there are enough sources of income to cover expenses. GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose assured that investigations would be conducted and penalties imposed for any violations.

Additionally, plans were made for a joint survey by police and GHMC to address illegal cellar parking issues in the city.
