Telangana Government to Boost Tourism with Focus on Temples, Forests, and Health

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced plans to enhance Telangana’s tourism sector by focusing on temple tourism, eco-tourism, and health tourism. He stated that the government aims to create new opportunities in these areas to attract more visitors and generate revenue. As part of this vision, Vikarabad will be developed into a key eco-tourism destination under the State’s upcoming tourism policy.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister inaugurated Experium, an immersive park located in Poddutur village of Rangareddy district. Spread across 150 acres, the park is built to world-class standards. It features 25,000 plant species, including rare plants imported from 85 countries. Some of these plants are highly valuable, with prices ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹3.5 crore.

During his speech, Revanth Reddy expressed concern over the neglect of local tourist attractions in Telangana. He noted that residents often travel to other states like Madhya Pradesh for forest tourism and Tamil Nadu for temple visits. He criticized past administrations for failing to tap into Telangana’s rich natural and cultural heritage. “Telangana is home to iconic temples like Ramappa Temple and Thousand Pillar Temple, as well as natural treasures like the Nallamala forests and Mallela Tirtham waterfalls. Developing temple and eco-tourism will not only give Telangana a unique identity but also boost revenue,” he said.

The Chief Minister reiterated that eco-tourism will be a priority under the new policy. He highlighted Vikarabad’s potential as a hub for eco-tourism, citing its historical reputation for having a healing atmosphere and herbal vegetation. “Vikarabad has been known for its therapeutic environment, particularly for treating diseases like tuberculosis. We plan to make it a key destination for health and eco-tourism,” he explained.

Revanth Reddy also unveiled a unique initiative to encourage environmental conservation. Under this program, students will be encouraged to plant and care for saplings in honor of their mothers. The government will finalize the details of this scheme soon. “We aim to transform Telangana into a natural forest region and will adopt policies to involve every student in planting and protecting trees. Role models like Vanajeevi Ramaiah inspire us in this effort,” he added.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Tourism Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, film actor Chiranjeevi, and government whip Mahender Reddy.
