Telangana to Launch New Life Sciences Policy to Boost Hyderabad’s Global Status

Hyderabad is about to see major growth in the Life Sciences sector as the Telangana government plans to introduce a new Life Sciences policy in the coming weeks. Special Chief Secretary for IT and Industries, Jayesh Ranjan, shared this news on Wednesday. The policy will focus on innovation in areas such as cell and gene therapy (CGT), genomics, biologics, precision medicine, peptides, digital technology, and advanced research and development (R&D).

Ranjan made this announcement at the opening of Tenthpin AI Labs (TAIL) in Hyderabad. This new centre will focus on using AI to improve the Life Sciences sector. Hyderabad has become a key hub for the pharmaceutical industry, with more than 1,800 pharmaceutical manufacturing units. The city also has a strong tech ecosystem, with 1,400 companies and a workforce of 10 lakh professionals, making it an attractive destination for global firms.

The new Life Sciences policy aims to take Hyderabad’s growth in this sector even further. Ranjan mentioned that the city has already surpassed many global cities in Life Sciences advancements. In fact, seven of the world’s top ten Life Sciences companies have set up operations in Hyderabad, highlighting its importance in the industry.

Tenthpin Management Consultants, a company based in Switzerland, chose Hyderabad over other Indian cities for its expansion. This decision reinforces Hyderabad’s reputation as a centre for Life Sciences and AI-driven healthcare solutions. Tenthpin Director Bart Reijs explained that the new facility will act as an incubation space, helping Life Sciences companies collaborate with experts and develop new ideas before launching them on a larger scale.

With this new policy, the Telangana government hopes to attract more investment and encourage further innovation in the Life Sciences sector. This move is expected to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a global leader in pharmaceuticals and healthcare advancements.
