Telangana Targets 40,000 MW Green Energy Generation by 2035, Says Dy CM Bhatti

Telangana Aims to Generate 40,000 MW of Green Power by 2035

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, announced that Telangana is determined to generate 40,000 megawatts (MW) of green energy by the year 2035. He shared this during the 4th World Green Power Investors’ Conference and Exhibition in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The minister highlighted the various steps the Telangana government is taking to increase its capacity for renewable energy. He emphasized that renewable energy is crucial for economic growth and societal prosperity in today’s fast-developing world.

Bhatti also spoke during the Chief Ministers’ Plenary Session at the REInvest 2024 event. He stressed the importance of clean and reliable energy for India’s future. Telangana, he said, is committed to being a leader in India’s renewable energy revolution, driven by its dynamic economy and growing industries like IT and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

India has set a national goal to generate 500 gigawatts of green energy. Telangana, in line with this, aims to play a significant role in fulfilling this target. The state is also working on other major projects like the Artificial Intelligence city, the Fourth City, and the Musi Riverfront development, all while keeping sustainability at the forefront.

Telangana has strong potential for solar power projects, especially at various reservoirs across the state. It is also one of the leading states in wind energy, with an estimated wind potential of around 54 gigawatts (GW) at 150 centers. Currently, the state operates two major hydroelectric projects.

Additionally, the state government is connecting the Regional Ring Road (RRR) to key industrial corridors. The development of these corridors and other infrastructure projects will help promote green power production. Telangana offers abundant natural resources, skilled labor, and business-friendly policies like TS-IPASS, making it an attractive destination for companies in the green energy sector.

Bhatti Vikramarka stated that Telangana is among the top eight Indian states with strong wind resources. The government is planning to introduce a comprehensive Green Power Energy Policy soon to promote sustainable and reliable green energy projects.

In conclusion, Bhatti invited investors and innovators from various industries to join Telangana in achieving its Green Power Mission. He urged solar power companies to set up their units in the state, stating, “Let’s build a strong future with green power, not only for Telangana but for the entire nation and humanity.”
