Telangana Set to Launch New EV Policy Tomorrow, Targeting a Greener Future

Telangana is launching a new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy starting tomorrow under Government Order (GO) 41. The main aim of this policy is to promote eco-friendly transportation and reduce pollution in the state. As part of the initiative, the government is offering major incentives, including waiving the registration fees for electric vehicles.

Minister for Transport, Ponnam Prabhakar, highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing air pollution, particularly in urban areas like Hyderabad. He mentioned that electric buses will soon be introduced in the city, with the goal of preventing pollution challenges similar to those faced by Delhi. “We aim to provide a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to traditional fuel-based transport,” the minister said.

The new policy is expected to encourage more people to adopt electric vehicles across Telangana. This aligns with the state’s broader goals of promoting environmental sustainability and improving energy efficiency. In addition to the registration fee waiver, the government plans to improve the infrastructure for EVs, such as installing more charging stations and offering incentives to manufacturers.

With increasing concerns about air quality in cities like Hyderabad, the state’s push for electric vehicles is seen as a smart move to reduce pollution and improve public health. Officials believe that these steps will lead more residents and businesses to switch to EVs, helping create a cleaner environment for future generations.

The policy also includes plans to introduce electric buses in Hyderabad. These buses will help cut down the city’s carbon footprint and offer low-emission public transportation options. The rollout of these buses is expected soon and marks a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility.
