Speaking at the Integrated District Office Complex (IDOC), during Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s meeting with district officials and key figures, Reddy highlighted the state’s agricultural achievements. He explained the government’s efforts to ensure proper procurement of the paddy and other food security measures.

The minister revealed that the Telangana government has initially allocated Rs 20,000 crore for paddy procurement this season. He assured that more funds would be provided if needed. Reddy emphasized that the government is committed to buying every grain of paddy the farmers want to sell, ensuring they receive fair prices.

Reddy also instructed officials to ensure that all procurement centers are fully prepared. This includes proper training for workers, adequate storage facilities, and essential equipment like tarpaulins and gunny bags. He stressed the importance of coordinating with rice millers and maintaining intermediary godowns to ensure smooth operations.

Additionally, Reddy mentioned that Telangana is striving for self-sufficiency in producing fine rice. To encourage farmers to grow finer varieties of paddy, the state government has announced a Rs 500 per quintal bonus, in addition to the minimum support price (MSP) set by the Government of India.

The minister noted that 80 to 85 LMTs of the paddy produced this season are expected to be of the fine variety. The government is offering incentives to promote the cultivation of such high-quality paddy.
