For the next academic year, 2023-2024, the state government will effectively allot 1.17 crores of free notebooks to the students at an estimated cost of Rs. 56.4 crores.
The students from classes VI to XII are to receive six to fourteen free notebooks at the start of the academic year. Schools from local body backgrounds, government, urban residential, TRIES, and KGBVs are included in this initiative.
Classes VI and VII will be given six 200-page notebooks, while Class VII will be given seven notebooks. The students from IX and X will similarly receive 14 notebooks according to the allotment. The intermediate students of the residential school under the control of educational school departments will be provided with 10 to 12 of the same, respectively.
This initiative by the Telangana Government will ease the needs of 12,39,415 students, as it has already begun to extend the free notebooks to government schools and colleges. Further, for the students of Classes I to V, the government has planned to provide them with 33,82,371 free workbooks worth Rs. 34.70 crore for the upcoming academic year.
Each student from the above-mentioned classes will receive three workbooks, which will indirectly benefit 11,27,457 students. The process of purchasing notebooks has already begun, and distribution will begin shortly as planned.
