Telangana Government to Launch New Tourism Policy Soon

Hyderabad: The government is planning to boost tourism in Telangana by introducing a new tourism policy, according to Tourism and Culture Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao. The aim is to make Telangana a popular tourist destination and create job opportunities for economic development.

As part of the new policy, destinations like Somasila for destination weddings and adventure tourism in the backwaters of the Krishna River, Ramappa, Laknavaram, Nagarjunasagar, and Ananthagiri Hills will be promoted. Plans are also underway to establish a wellness tourism resort in Ananthagiri that combines culture and traditions for marriage ceremonies.

The government is committed to developing neglected tourist spots like Taramati Baradari and Haritha Hotels within six months. The Minister criticized the previous government for not having a tourism policy and failing to secure funds from the Centre. The new tourism policy will be announced soon after approval from the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Rao also plans to meet with the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture to request funds for Telangana tourism development. The goal is to attract local and international tourists by enhancing infrastructure through public-private partnerships. Buddavanam in Nagarjunasagar will be developed to international standards to attract tourists from Eastern and Southern countries.

Additionally, efforts will be made to revive the National Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, which saw a decline in student numbers during the previous government. The Minister also highlighted plans to promote Telangana culture and celebrate the centenaries of Dasaradhi Krishnamacharya and Kaloji Narayana Rao in a grand manner.
