Telangana government approves H-CITI project to boost city infrastructure

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved a major initiative called the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Project (H-CITI) to enhance the civic infrastructure in Hyderabad. This ambitious project is set to cost Rs 5,942 crore.

The H-CITI project, which falls under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, will include several infrastructure developments. Among the key projects are the construction of a one-way flyover at the NFCL Junction in Jubilee Hills and a three-lane, uni-directional underpass at the TV-9 Junction. Additionally, road-widening projects will be carried out in multiple zones within Greater Hyderabad.

Other major works planned include a six-lane bi-directional flyover connecting Miyapur X Road to Alwyn X Road and a three-lane, uni-directional underpass from Lingampally to Gachibowli. The project also involves the construction of a road over bridge (ROB) at Serilingampally railway station, as well as widening and developing key roads, such as a 150/100-foot road from NH 65 to Ameenpur and a 215-foot road from the Cyberabad Police Commissioner’s office to Gachibowli Junction. Another road, stretching 150 feet wide, will be developed from Anjaiah Nagar to Ramky Tower Road. All of these works will be executed in five separate packages.

To streamline the process, the relevant utility departments will prepare cost estimates for utility shifting, which will be carried out by an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agency under their supervision. The Commissioner of GHMC has already requested administrative approval for 23 works under the H-CITI project. The funding for these projects will come from the State budget allocated annually to assist GHMC.

Tenders for flyovers and ROB projects will be invited under the EPC method. Construction, land acquisition, and utility shifting will be conducted simultaneously to avoid project delays. This comprehensive effort is expected to significantly transform Hyderabad’s infrastructure and improve urban mobility.
