Telangana Fire Department Issues Warning to Individuals Storing Hazardous Materials and Chemicals

The Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Service department has warned people not to store hazardous materials and chemicals in residential areas. This advisory comes after a tragic accident that resulted in nine deaths and several injuries caused by burns and smoke inhalation.

The department is urging citizens to report any unauthorized storage or use of hazardous materials in residential areas to the fire, police, and GHMC officials. Building owners are advised to install firefighting measures in accordance with the national building code for their specific type of building. They should also regularly maintain these systems and check them daily. Additionally, larger business complexes or establishments should appoint fire safety officers, similar to having security staff.

It is important that staircases are not locked and not used as dumping places for waste materials. The department also stressed the need to keep setbacks clear so that fire vehicles can access the area in case of an emergency. Inmates should practice fire drills regularly and call 101 immediately in case of an emergency.

By following these guidelines, we can help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of our residential areas.
