Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister described the unveiling as a major milestone in the state’s history. He emphasized that the Telangana Thalli statue, now standing prominently at the Secretariat, is a lasting symbol of the state’s rich culture and heritage.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with cabinet ministers, participated in the unveiling. Vikramarka expressed his regret that Telangana Thalli had not been officially recognized since the state’s formation. He acknowledged that many aspirations of the people remained unfulfilled in the years following Telangana’s creation.

Vikramarka reflected on the hopes that came with the formation of Telangana. He recalled how the youth proudly displayed “TG” on their vehicles and wore green symbols during the movement, showcasing their commitment to the state’s identity. However, he noted that many of these dreams were neglected after the state was formed.

He added that the current government has been working to address those unmet aspirations. For example, the government officially recognized Andhesri’s song, a key anthem of the Telangana movement, as the state anthem. This recognition was a long-pending promise finally fulfilled after the state achieved independence.

The government has also decided to honor prominent Telangana figures, including poets and activists like Kavi Gud Ayyanna, Gaddar, and Bandi Yadagiri. These individuals and their families will be awarded land and cash as a tribute to their contributions to Telangana’s history and culture.

December 9 will now be celebrated every year as “Telangana Thalli Avatharana Utsavam,” a state festival. This event will be observed across all levels of the state, including district and mandal levels, to commemorate the unveiling of the statue and honor Telangana’s cultural heritage.

The Chief Minister firmly stated that any attempt to alter or remove the Telangana Thalli statue in the future would face legal consequences. He explained that this decision reflects the government’s commitment to fulfilling the longstanding dreams of the people of Telangana.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, and ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Damodara Rajanarsimha, and others. Senior officials like Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and DGP Jitender were also present to witness the historic moment.

This marks a new chapter in Telangana’s journey, as the state continues to celebrate its identity and honor those who contributed to its formation.
